In the first year of the college playoff, we’ve got a new poll, and I’m happy to have been asked to be a part of it. It’s a partnership between the National Football Foundation and the Football Writers Assn. of America, and it’s a 41-member group that will pick a “Super 16” each week.
Wisely, I think, the first poll didn’t happen until after the first three weeks of games, and here it is. My ballot is at the bottom of this post, and you might notice that it’s an attempt to give credit to the schools that have played somebody good (or at least believed to be good) as opposed to voting a program high based on reputation or perceived strength.
Still, any poll is still a bit of a guess, and they’re especially so this early in the season.
My first ballot:
1, Florida State
4, Texas A&M.
6, Notre Dame.
10, Ole Miss.
16, Arizona State.
