The Pac-12 announced Monday winners of its weekly awards for offensive, defensive and special-teams players of the week: Marcus Mariota of Oregon, Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright and USC return man Adoree Jackson.
Media members vote for the awards, and I had Wright and Jackson along with them, but went for Travis Wilson of Utah for offensive player, on the strength of his game-winning drive that beat the Trojans in Salt Lake City. Mariota threw for five touchdowns against Cal.
Wright had three sacks of Connor Halliday at Washington State, and Jackson had a 100-yard kickoff return for the Trojans. The special-teams award was the most competitive of the season, with a handful of returns for touchdowns, including punt returns by Davonte Neal of Arizona, Ty Montgomery of Stanford and Charles Nelson of Oregon.
