Bruins bore in on Pac-12 South championship

UCLA’s decisive 38-20 victory Saturday over USC puts the Bruins in position to nab the Pac-12 South football title and play Oregon Dec. 5 in the league championship game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara Dec. 5.

Wins by UCLA, Arizona State and Arizona put the South in a three-way knot at 6-2 following Saturday’s games. But the Bruins beat both Arizona schools, so no matter which one wins the Territorial Cup Friday in Tucson, UCLA gets the tiebreaker if it beats Stanford. Those two games, by the way, are at the same time, so there could be some scoreboard watching going on. UCLA-Stanford will be aired at 12:30 p.m. on ABC, the Arizona-ASU game on Fox.

A UCLA win in Pasadena would mean a rematch between Oregon’s Marcus Mariota and UCLA’s Brett Hundley. The first one Oct. 11 wasn’t such great theater, as the Ducks blew out the Bruins at UCLA, 42-30, in a game that was decided before the fourth quarter.
