TCU making a case for an expanded playoff

A minute and a half into the third quarter of the Peach Bowl, TCU is shaming No. 9 Ole Miss, 35-0, and making a huge case that the four-team college playoff isn’t big enough.

Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State are the four in the playoff, but the controversy involved the jilted teams from the Big 12, TCU and Baylor. Remember, TCU would have gone unbeaten but for giving up three late touchdowns to Baylor that gave the Bears a 61-58 win.

After-the-fact judgments are always a little precarious, but the Frogs are certainly showing that, if they didn’t belong in the playoff, they at least would have acquitted themselves well in it.

And a side note: This isn’t exactly a resounding statement for SEC strength in 2014, on the heels of LSU’s pratfall Tuesday against Notre Dame. Georgia showed well against Louisville Tuesday, but LSU was a sizable favorite against the Irish and played poorly.
