Northwest 11: A scramble for the runnerup position

 

Herewith, the second edition of the 2014-15 Northwest 11, covering the states of Oregon and Washington, plus Idaho and Boise State. The highlights of the week were major upsets by Washington State and Oregon State, making for a competitive scrap behind Gonzaga.

1. Gonzaga (16-1) . . . Salty Pepperdine next Zags challenge Thursday night in Malibu

2. Oregon (12-4) . . . Well, somebody’s got to have this spot

3. Washington (11-4) . . . RPI went from 17 to 77 in four easy steps

4. Oregon State (11-4) . . . Who’d have thunk it? A 94 RPI inĀ  mid-January

5. Eastern Washington (12-4) . . . Only Big Sky unbeaten meets Sac State (3-1) on road Saturday

10. Portland State (8-6) . . . Tough Eastern-Idaho one-two this week at home

11. Seattle U. (7-8) . . . Little hope when Umipig (3 for 11 at Utah Valley) not scoring
