Scout.com just tweeted that it jumped UCLA to its No. 4 overall spot at this hour (8 a.m. Wednesday) after it got a commitment from Roquan Smith of Montezuma, Ga., which that service had rated the No. 1 inside linebacker in the nation.
Smith chose the Bruins over Texas A&M, Georgia and Michigan. At his signing-day press gig, he had placards of the finalists set up before him on a table, including “Michigan University.” Got to believe the new coach at the University of Michigan, Jim Harbaugh, loved that.
As of shortly before 9 a.m., UCLA now has the top-rated player at four positions, including already-enrolled quarterback Josh Rosen of St. John Bosco in Bellflower, Calif.
Big day for the southern California schools.
