Democratic state Sen. Derek Kilmer and Republican Bill Driscoll, a Weyerhaeuser heir, appeared headed to a general election matchup in the race to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks.
Kilmer had received a commanding 54 percent of the votes in early returns while Driscoll had 18 percent.
The 6th Congressional District stretches north from Tacoma, through Kitsap County and west into the Olympic Peninsula. Dicks, a Democrat, is stepping down after 35 years in Congress.
