Washington delegation “enthusiastically” casts its votes for Romney

TAMPA — In the time-honored tradition of the national political conventions, the Republican delegations here spent part of Tuesday afternoon each casting their votes for president.

They went in alphabetical order, so it was about 6 p.m. EDT before Washington’s delegation got its chance.

The honor of calling out the state’s nomination went to Dino Rossi, the two-time gubernatorial candidate and state senator.

“We are from the real Washington — Washington State,” Rossi said, “Yeah we are not from the Washington that’s leading us to bankruptcy, we’re from the Evergreen State.”

Rossi calmly announced the casting of 5 votes for Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

Then he raised his voice: “And we enthusiastically cast 38 votes for the next President of the United States, Mitt Romney!”

I am told that under Republican convention rules, enthusiastically-cast votes count the same as the regular ones.
