RGA releases first TV ad attacking Inslee

The Republican Governors Association released its first television commercial Wednesday attacking Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jay Inslee.

The RGA has poured roughly $4 million into a political action committee to support GOP gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna through an independent expenditure campaign.

The 31-second ad has a female voice-over, with somber music playing in the background. The woman critiques Inslee’s record:

“We don’t expect perfection, but Jay Inslee has made mistake after mistake. Local small businesses struggling to stay open and Inslee votes them a massive tax increase, making their survival even more difficult. Skyrocketing federal debt slowing our recovery and Inslee votes for an $800 billion spending program that never delivered the promised jobs. Jay Inslee, a risk our small businesses just can’t afford.”

RGA officials. when asked for documentation of the ad’s claims, sent this. The ad is running statewide for an uspecified amount of time.

Inslee spokeswoman Jaime Smith released a statement saying:

“It didn’t take long for the national Republicans propping up Rob McKenna to launch unsubstantiated attacks against Jay Inslee. The Republican Governors Association is distorting Jay’s record of fighting for small businesses and middle-class families. Jay Inslee stood with President Obama to stop the tide of job losses and provide tax relief to small businesses, while Rob McKenna stands with Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan who want tax breaks for the super-rich.”

A labor-backed political action committee supporting Inslee, Our Washington, has raised about $4.2 million and reserved large chunks of television air time for the final weeks of the election. The Democratic Governors Association has contributed $2 million to the PAC.
