WASHINGTON — Seattle Seahawks blue and white flew briefly in the nation’s capital Wednesday, as Sens. Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray hoisted the “12th Man” flag on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

The Washington Democrats were among fans participating in “Hawkitecture” by displaying the flag in front of various buildings.

Murray and Cantwell held up the flag with beaming faces, expressions they rarely show on the Senate floor. Cantwell also sported a very un-Capitol attire of electric green puffy jacket.

The Seahawks will open their playoff season Saturday against the New Orleans Saints at CenturyLink Field.

(That’s a bag of Skittles in Murray’s right hand — an homage to Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, who likes to snack on the “power pellets.”)
