Welcome to the Oscar club

This year’s Academy Awards acting nominations, announced this morning, featured an unusual number of first-timers: Congratulations to Richard Jenkins (“The Visitor”), Frank Langella (“Frost/Nixon”), Mickey Rourke (“The Wrestler”), Josh Brolin (“Milk”), Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road”), Anne Hathaway (“Rachel Getting Married”), Melissa Leo (“Frozen River”), Viola Davis (“Doubt”) and Taraji P. Henson (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”), all of whom heard their names called for the first time.
While we’re in a celebratory mood, let’s revisit a happy drum-beating moment from “The Visitor,” which shows why the ever-wonderful Jenkins got the nod:
