A new “Bonnie & Clyde,” “Tintin” and more

Lots of casting news in Variety today; some of it a bit on the bizarro side:
— Jamie Bell and Daniel Craig, who just played brothers in “Defiance,” will star in Steven Spielberg’s ambitious new project: the first movie in a 3-D motion capture trilogy, entitled “The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn.” Peter Jackson is set to direct the second “Tintin” movie; the first is scheduled to be in theaters in 2011. Bell will play the main character, a determined young reporter (based on the children’s comic-strip character created by Belgian artist Georges Remi); Craig will be the villain, Red Rackham. The very funny Edgar Wright (“Hot Fuzz,” “Shaun of the Dead”) is among the writers, and his frequent creative partner Simon Pegg in the supporting cast.
— Brendan Fraser continues his family-movie trend and will star in “Furry Vengeance,” in which he’ll play a housing developer whose latest project is besieged by the animal kingdom. Could be cute.
— Speaking of cute: Hilary Duff and Kevin Zegers (who was very good opposite Felicity Huffman in “Transamerica”) will star in “The Story of Bonnie and Clyde,” Tonya S. Holly’s indie film based on the story of the two legendary bandits. Variety takes pains to point out that the project is not a remake of Arthur Penn’s great, shocking 1967 film “Bonnie and Clyde” — but, really, who’s not thinking about it? And . . . Hilary Duff?
