“Sleepless” on stage, and more movie news

Here’s a midweek roundup of movie news, ranging from sanity to madness:
Leonardo DiCaprio will star in Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi action film “Inception,” to go before the cameras this summer and in theaters next year. Yes, this is the movie that’s making us all wait for a “Dark Knight” sequel, but let’s try not to hold that against it. Nolan (“The Prestige,” “Insomnia,” “Memento”) is pretty good at making non-Batman movies too.
— “Beezus and Ramona,” based on the children’s book series by Oregon author Beverly Cleary, is coming to the big screen, directed by Elizabeth Allen (“Aquamarine”) and starring John Corbett and Bridget Moynaham as Mr. and Mrs. Quimby and Ginnifer Goodwin as Aunt Bea. Selena Gomez and Joey King will play the sisters.
— And, in the category of Seemingly Random Movies Being Turned Into Broadway Musicals, “Sleepless in Seattle” is tuning up for a 2010 Broadway adaptation, with music and lyrics from the veteran composer of “Doctor Doolittle” and “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” No word on whether the scene in which Rob Reiner examines Tom Hanks’ butt on a sidewalk near Pike Place Market will survive the translation.
