IMAX coming to Northgate in May

A friend was asking me the other day about the Thornton Place development just south of Northgate, whose signs have long promised a new cinema in “Spring 2009.” I dug up a few <a href="“>details on the theater, whose grand opening is supposedly coming in May: It’ll be part of the Regal chain (and called, at least for now, the Regal IMAX Cinema) and will feature fourteen screens, including an IMAX theater equipped for 3D, with stadium seating and reclining seats in all theaters. Sounds like a far cry from the late Northgate Theater (on whose ashes now stand a Barnes & Noble), whose enormous screen and cavernous interior are sorely missed. Can’t say I miss those sticky floors, though.
