So, who should play Frank Sinatra?

Variety reported today that Martin Scorsese will direct the biopic “Sinatra,” for which Phil Alden Robinson (“Field of Dreams,” “Sneakers”) is currently at work on the screenplay. No actor is currently linked to the project, which has the rights to use Sinatra’s music. It’s tricky to speculate on the lead role without knowing what portion of Sinatra’s life the screenplay will focus on (his showbiz career began in the ’30s and continued until the ’90s) — but who might play the Chairman of the Board? A chameleon, like Sean Penn? A debonair leading man, like George Clooney? A character actor, like Jeff Daniels? Who’d be your pick?
