Today I’m in SIFF screenings all day, over at Pacific Place: “Treeless Mountain” at 10, “(500) Days of Summer” at noon, “My Dear Enemy” at 2. So, talk amongst yourselves. Any more ideas on who should play Sinatra — or, for that matter, Dean Martin? (Fun fact in the Hollywood Reporter today: Screenwriter Phil Alden Robinson has amassed 30,000 pages of research for “Sinatra.”) Will “Star Trek” stay on top of the box office, or will “Angels & Demons” do devilish business? And what do you think of the very all-that-jazzy trailer for “Nine”?
(I know, I know; I said I tried not to watch trailers. Any musical featuring Judi Dench is an exception to the rule. Have a lovely Thursday.)
Update, on Friday: Having computer problems, so am unable to post the truly brilliant item about Explanations of Scientific Phenomena in the Movies that’s percolating in my head before taking off for a screening. (Tidbit I: Someday, when “Angels & Demons” is out on DVD, there will be a fun drinking game in which players have to take a swig whenever anyone in the movie says “Exactly.” ) So I’ll leave you with “Nine,” and Sinatra (word now is that Leonard DiCaprio has the role sewn up — hmm), and hopes for a happy weekend. See you Monday.
