SIFF kicks off; and a happy holiday weekend to all

Seattle International Film Festival kicks off its 35th birthday (ah, that’s a good year) tonight with a screening of the very funny British political satire “In the Loop.” SIFF”s opening-night film choices have been notoriously uneven, but this one’s a winner — I think audiences are really going to enjoy it. In case you can’t make it tonight at the Paramount (ticket info: www.siff.net), “In the Loop” will open in theaters later in the summer. And if you’re at the post-screening party, say hello — I’ll be wearing a red dress and sipping white wine. Or maybe wearing a white dress and sipping red wine. Or . . . indecision rules. (Black dress and Diet Coke?) Anyway, I’ll be there.
I’m off for a four-day weekend, though not exactly off-duty; I’ll be checking out some SIFF screenings and hope to visit Thornton Place as well. Have a lovely weekend, everyone!
