The Oscars: “The Hurt Locker” wins original screenplay

Tina Fey, Robert Downey Jr., and Robert’s blue bow tie come out to present the original screenplay award, doing a cute little mock fight about writers vs. actors. I like how they show script excerpts in the reading of the nominees; was this an idea from last year? The winner: Mark Boal, for “The Hurt Locker.” First “Hurt Locker” win so far; an indication of things to come? Or a consolation prize. We shall see. (Boal, by the way, is the subject of a fun piece in the New York Times today about the awards-party circuit.)
