Popcorn & Prejudice: A Movie Blog

Seattle Times writer Moira Macdonald muses on moviegoing. Email Moira: mmacdonald@seattletimes.com.

Mark your calendars for 2011, 2012

(“Eclipse” reading update: This morning on the treadmill, on page 320-something, Jacob told Bella he loved her. No kidding. She, after two and a half books, was clueless. This caused me to roll my eyes so dramatically I practically fell off the treadmill. These books may well be hazardous to my health.)
Anyway. Lots of big movie dates got announced this week for some reason; here are a few of them:
June 3, 2011: “X-Men: First Class”
June 24, 2011: “Planet of the Apes” prequel
November 18, 2011: “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”
December 16, 2011: “Mission: Impossible IV”
May 25, 2012: “Men in Black 3D”
July 20, 2012: Untitled “The Dark Knight” sequel
Do note that the “Dark Knight” sequel will open three weeks after the “Star Trek” sequel, and two weeks after the new “Spider-Man.” Expect a worldwide popcorn shortage.
And, as everybody rushes to “Iron Man 2” this weekend, here’s a very different look at the always-great Robert Downey Jr. (not to mention Ben Stiller and Jack Black). See you Monday.
