Going to “Sex and the City 2”? Let’s take a poll

Tonight I’m going to the advance screening of “Sex and the City 2,” and I’m told there will be cupcakes, which is always a plus. (No, I do not give positive reviews in exchange for cupcakes, as the people behind “Valentine’s Day” now know.) As someone who enjoyed the show way back when but is now very much done with Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, Charlotte (though I still think the wonderfully funny Kristin Davis is this franchise’s secret weapon) and the boys, I’m approaching this screening with . . . well, a certain sense of inevitability. On screen, cocktails will be consumed, insane outfits will be worn (why is Samantha wearing spiked shoulder pads? Is she expecting trouble?), sex will be had, and Carrie will bite her lip and ask rhetorical questions in a way that is not quite as charming as it was a decade or so ago. I love the way the show’s touchstone was the friendship between these women — and that’s something we still don’t see often enough on screen — but I thought they walked into the sunset quite sufficiently last time. We shall see.
But I have to go; it’s my job, cupcakes or no cupcakes. You, on the other hand, don’t have to go if you don’t want to. So, tell me what you think:
