Popcorn & Prejudice: A Movie Blog

Seattle Times writer Moira Macdonald muses on moviegoing. Email Moira: mmacdonald@seattletimes.com.

A spring break for P & P

I’m taking a little post-Oscar-pre-SIFF time off for the rest of the month; back Monday, April 4, refreshed and ready to discuss spring movies. (Do we really need an “Arthur” remake? Does Natalie Portman have a clone, and is that why she’s in so many upcoming movies? Is “Bridesmaids” really a female “Hangover,” and is that a good thing? And will the elephant in “Water for Elephants” be as good as the elephant in “Eat Pray Love” — who, let’s admit it, stole the movie from Julia Roberts? All in good time.) Anyway, here’s a little heads-up: While I’m away, Tom McCarthy’s new movie “Win Win” will open in Seattle April 1, and those who loved his two previous movies, “The Station Agent” and “The Visitor” won’t want to miss it; it’s another gem. If you don’t know his movies — well, watch “The Station Agent” this week, and see what I mean.

Happy spring, everyone; see you on the 4th.
