“Harry Potter” — ending soon at a theater near you

Just two weeks until the final “Harry Potter” movie turns up in theaters, and I’m hearing that some are preparing by watching a Harry Potter marathon at home (been there, done that), buying tickets to watch the entire saga in a theater (you can do this at Cinerama or at AMC Theaters), rereading the books (I’m doing a little brushing-up myself) and generally getting ready for life without a new Harry Potter movie to look forward to. While I’m fine with the saga coming to an end — and, in fact, more than ready for it — I’ll miss the movies as not only good entertainment, but as a chance to hang with my nephew, who was too little and squirrelly to come to the first Harry Potter movie but has been my date for the advance screening of every HP movie since then. (He’s now a teenager, and over six feet tall, but I can still see in him that excited little kid from 2002.)
He and I will be at the advance screening July 11, and I’ll let you know what we both think. In the meantime, if you (as I did) might need a little reminder of exactly what Horcruxes are, here’s a tutorial. And have a lovely holiday weekend!
