New “Sherlock Holmes” trailer — now with Noomi Rapace

So, I was watching the first trailer for “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” (opening in December), and remembering how surprised I was that the first movie was so much fun, and wondering who the striking-looking actress was at the beginning of the trailer. I was sure I’d seen her before, but couldn’t place her. Well, turns out that’s Noomi Rapace, who was so electric as Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish film version of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and its two sequels, and who looks rather different when not done up in Goth makeup and piercings. (If you’re wondering why she isn’t playing the role in the David Fincher version, I remember reading a while back that Rapace was approached, but quickly said no; she loved Salander, but she was done.) Here’s hoping she got a nice big paycheck for “Sherlock Holmes,” and that Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law occasionally let her get a word in edgewise. Also, nice to see our “Mad Men” friend Jared Harris turning up, as the wicked Moriarty.
