Coming up: Cinerama Festival

Just in case some of you missed my colleague John Hartl’s preview story about the upcoming 70mm film festival at Cinerama — read all about it here. The festival will include the three-strip Cinerama films “This Is Cinerama” and “How the West Was Won,” along with a collection of 70mm (shot in 70mm, not blown up) classics such as “Lawrence of Arabia,” “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “The Sound of Music,” “Cleopatra,” “West Side Story,” “South Pacific,” “Playtime” and more. All will be shown on Cinerama’s curved screen, not its usual flat one. The festival begins Friday and continues through Oct. 16; for more information, see www.cinerama.com.
