In honor of Election Day: “Election”

Seems like the right time to post a clip from a wonderful but little-seen movie from 1999: Alexander Payne’s “Election,” starring a young (and amazing) Reese Witherspoon and a not-quite-so-young (but giving one of his best screen performances) Matthew Broderick. Payne went on to make “About Schmidt,” “Sideways,” and the upcoming “The Descendants” — which was one of the best movies I saw at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this fall, and which will open in Seattle theaters later this month. If you haven’t seen “Election” and you like smart satire, check it out.
