Billy Crystal to host the Oscars?

The Academy hasn’t yet made the official announcement, but Billy Crystal tweeted this afternoon that he will host the Oscars — the latest in a series of rapid-fire events this week in which producer Brett Ratner and host Eddie Murphy resigned, followed by Brian Grazer signing on to produce. Crystal’s tweet reads:

Am doing the Oscars so the young woman in the pharmacy will stop asking my name when I pick up my prescriptions. Looking forward to the show

Welcome, Billy! Academy, care to confirm?
Update (2:19 p.m.): Deadline.com reports that the Academy has confirmed. That was fast, wasn’t it?
