Here come the holiday movies . . .

(No news on the Oscar-host front this morning, at least so far. But lots of speculation, with my favorite possibilities this morning including Ricky Gervais and the Muppets . . . .)
“J. Edgar,” Clint Eastwood’s latest, arrives in theaters tonight; it’s been one of the more anticipated awards-bait movies of the season, but I think it’s going to fade away quickly. A worthy effort, to be sure, but disappointingly sketchy. For those wondering about the rest of the season’s A-list offerings, here’s a handful of them, with their current Seattle release dates (subject to change). All of these are Oscar-eligible for 2012, but some won’t be here until January.
Nov. 23: “The Artist” (I loved this movie), “The Descendants” (ditto), “My Week with Marilyn” (haven’t seen)
Dec. 9: “Young Adult”
Dec. 21: “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “The Adventures of Tintin”
Dec. 23: “We Bought a Zoo,” “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” “A Dangerous Method”
Dec. 25: “War Horse”
Jan. 20: “Carnage,” “Extrtemely Loud and Incredibly Close”
January TBD: “Albert Nobbs,” “The Iron Lady,” “In the Land of Blood and Honey”
Any other titles/dates you’re wondering about? Let me know . . .
