A “Downton Abbey” roundup, for the weekend

I haven’t been blogging much about Season 2 of “Downton Abbey” lately, and I’ll explain why if you promise not to hate me: PBS was kind enough to send me a screener with the first six episodes, and I watched them all in a joyous decadent wallow of Maggie Smith and hats and teacups and nobility and stiff upper lips, and now all the episodes have run together in my head and I’m afraid to say a word on this blog because I might accidentally let a spoiler slip out. Because a lot happens, particularly in episode 6. We’ll talk about it once we’re all on the same page, but in the meantime, just so you Downton fans don’t think I’ve forgotten you, here’s a roundup of items of which the Dowager Countess might approve. Or not; it is, after all, the week-end.
— Here is a perfectly delightful “Which Downton Abbey Character Are You?” quiz. I took it, and it seems that I am Lady Mary Crawley, minus the staff.
— Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Grantham, will be chatting online at PBS.org on Monday at 1 p.m. E.S.T., right here. Should be fun.
— Here’s everything you could possibly want to know about Highclere Castle, the lovely estate on which “Downton Abbey” is filmed.
— And here is a behind-the-scenes Season 2 photo gallery, most notable for a lovely shot in which Lady Edith and Lady Sybil, in full costume, check their iPhones.
— My colleague and fellow ‘Downton’ fan Doug Knoop pointed me to this: Patton Oswalt’s funny, enthusiastic “Downton Abbey” tweets, every Sunday while the show is broadcast. (Sample from last week: “Whoo! The shadow of his cane before it hits the stairs! 2nd “gunfighter entrance” for Bates this season.” and “More evil is hatched during O’Brien and Thomas’s cigarette breaks than 10 board meetings at Nestle.”)
And finally: a few moments with everyone’s favorite Dowager Countess:

Happy week-end, all.
