Some of you may have noticed that the Metro has closed down; that’s because its lease has been taken over (from Landmark) by Sundance Cinemas, which has chosen Seattle for the location of its fifth theater nationwide. The former Metro will now re-open in June and gradually roll out its renovations throughout the summer. Here’s the plan, from their website:
Throughout May we’re going to get our ducks in a row. We’ll be relearning the market, making sure we have the best staff possible, putting in new presentation equipment and making plans for when we re-open in June. When we begin to operate in June, we’ll have very few of the amenities that Sundance Cinemas is known for. Over the next few months we’ll transform the theatre into a grand location to watch a movie in comfort, with true respect for the patron and filmmaker. We won’t open with reserved seating – that will come later. We will open with great movies, great popcorn with real butter and no annoying TV commercials.
Stay tuned — and, if you want to be added to the Sundance Cinema Seattle email list, join here.
