‘The Dark Knight Rises’ looms

It’s finally almost here, and in honor of Christopher Nolan’s final film in his so-far-splendid Batman trilogy, I’m making this “The Dark Knight Rises” week at P & P, which means lots of “DKR” news and perhaps me standing moodily by the window at my office, staring down at Gotham City, i.e. South Lake Union, wearing a cape and talking in a strangely garbled voice. Well, maybe not that last bit. Anyway . . .
— Superhero alert: Word from Comic-Con is that the first trailer for Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, “Man of Steel” (for which Nolan is a producer), will play in front of “The Dark Knight Rises” in theaters this weekend. The movie is currently set to open June 14, 2013, and those of us still pouting because Jon Hamm didn’t get the gig will just need to get over it. Snyder was asked at Comic-Con the immortal question of who would win a Batman-vs.-Superman (specifically, Nolan’s Batman and Snyder’s Superman) duel. He answered, after hemming and hawing a bit, “Look, I love Batman, right? He’s awesome. But, like, really?”
— Ouch: More than 100 junket reporters, local press and Hollywood Foreign Press Association members gathered Friday for Warner Bros.’ first official screening of “The Dark Knight Rises,” prior to Saturday’s press junket — and were sent home after a little more than an hour, after the IMAX projector’s sync computer failed. A second screening was hastily scheduled for the ungodly hour of 8 a.m. Saturday. Deadline.com notes that “A 40-year employee of IMAX said that this has never ever happened to him before.” A little too early to be talking about a curse, isn’t it?
— And, for those who like sneak peeks, here’s a clip from “The Dark Knight Rises,” with Bruce Wayne and a purry Selina Kyle.
