A bit of ‘Star Trek’ with ‘The Hobbit’

(Breaking news, and a candidate for Funniest Movie Title Ever: Just got a press release announcing the existence of “The Last Exorcism, Part II.”)
Sorry, interrupted myself. Those eagerly awaiting “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” in IMAX 3D (coming Dec. 14; hold your horses) will get a bonus when the time comes: nine minutes of J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek: Into Darkness.” Though the “Star Trek” movie won’t open in theaters until May 2013, Paramount decided to slip a sneak peek into 500 digitally equipped IMAX theaters across the country, in front of “The Hobbit.” The studio says this is the first time exclusive footage has been released in IMAX 3D. Live long and prosper, new technology.
