New managing director at SIFF

News from the Seattle International Film Festival this morning: Mary Bacarella, a longtime executive at the Space Needle, has accepted the position of Managing Director, effective February 1. She will replace Deborah Person, who announced her departure from SIFF last year; Person, Managing Director since 2005, is ending a 32-year tenure with SIFF, and will continue on staff through the late-spring festival to enable a smooth transition. Bacarella has spent 14 years at the Space Needle LLC and Chihuly Garden and Glass, where she served as the Vice President of Brand Management and recently oversaw all aspects of the Space Needle’s 50th anniversary and helped launch the new Chihuly exhibit.
This year’s festival will take place May 16 – June 9; details of the festival will be announced May 2.
