Where to see the Oscar-nominated movies

First things first: “Amour,” which received five Academy Awards nominations including best picture, director and actress, hasn’t played Seattle yet, but it’ll be here soon: January 25, at the Egyptian.
Among the other best picture nominees, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” is available on DVD; the rest are all in theaters — and probably due to expand into additional theaters soon. (The Weinstein Company already announced a big expansion of “Silver Linings Playbook” for next week.)
Four of the five documentary nominees have already had a Seattle-area theatrical release, with DVD releases imminent: “The Invisible War” (already on DVD), “Searching for Sugar Man” (DVD out Jan. 22), “5 Broken Cameras” (Jan. 15) and “How to Survive a Plague” (Feb. 26). The fifth, “The Gatekeepers,” will be open at a Landmark theater March 15.
Of the remaining foreign-language nominees (other than “Amour”), “A Royal Affair” already played here, “No” will arrive in theaters here on March 29, “War Witch” on March 15, and “Kon-Tiki” is currently TBD; stay tuned.
