David Fincher for ‘Gone Girl’?

This obviously isn’t yet a done deal, but it’s pretty interesting: David Fincher (“Zodiac,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) is reportedly eyeing “Gone Girl,” last summer’s must-read novel by Gillian Flynn. The book, a twisty tale of a toxic marriage, was acquired months ago for the movies, with Reese Witherspoon among its producers. (It hasn’t been announced whether Witherspoon would also star in the film. She wouldn’t be bad; though I’m picturing Kate Winslet.) Love the idea of Fincher to direct this dark tale; we’ll see what happens.
