Early Hitchcock films to screen in Seattle

Nice bit of news for Hitch completists: The British Film Institute has completed restoration work on “The Hitchcock 9,” nine rarely seen works from Alfred Hitchcock made in 1925 to 1929 — and Seattle is among the handful of cities to which these new prints will tour. The films include Hitchcock’s debut, “The Pleasure Garden,” as well as “Downhill,” “Easy Virtue,” “Champagne,” “The Farmer’s Wife,” “Blackmail,’ “The Ring,” “The Manxman,” and “The Lodger” (which features his first cameo). The tour will begin in San Francisco in June; Seattle dates are not yet announced, but will likely be later this summer; stay tuned.
