‘Grace of Monaco’ gets a date

You can reserve a slot on next year’s Oscar ballot in the Best Actress category, at least: The Weinstein Company has confirmed that they will be releasing “Grace of Monaco,” starring Nicole Kidman as the former Grace Kelly, in limited release on December 27, in time for Academy Awards consideration. Kidman, a three-time nominee, won an Oscar in 2004 for “The Hours”; her director in “Grace of Monaco,” Olivier Dahan, is best known for “La Vie en Rose” (which won a best actress Oscar for Marion Cotillard in 2008).

Here, entirely sight unseen, is my insanely early prediction of the category in 2014. Expect this to change repeatedly as the year unfolds.

Cate Blanchett, “The Monuments Men” (hmm, this might be a supporting role)

Nicole Kidman, “Grace of Monaco”

Carey Mulligan, “The Great Gatsby”

Meryl Streep, “August: Osage County”

Naomi Watts, “Diana”
