Casting news: Lynn Shelton’s latest

Seattle-based writer/director Lynn Shelton is busy casting her new film: a dark comedy called “Laggies,” written by Andrea Seigel, about a woman in her late 20s who panics at her boyfriend’s wedding proposal and goes into hiding with her 16-year-old best friend. Looks like new Oscar winner Anne Hathaway will play the older woman, Chloe Moretz (so great recently on “30 Rock” as Jack’s teenage nemesis) the younger, and Mark Webber (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”) the boyfriend; Sam Rockwell is also in talks to play another role. Shelton’s most recent film, the made-in-Seattle ensemble piece “Touchy Feely,” was acquired earlier this month for national distribution by Magnolia Pictures, and my guess is that we just might see it here later this spring at the Seattle International Film Festival.
