Much ado about ‘Macbeth’

Funny how you can go weeks, maybe months without hearing a peep about That Scottish Play, and suddenly it’s all over the entertainment news. First, and oh my: Marion Cotillard has signed to play Lady Macbeth opposite Michael Fassbender in an upcoming film of the play, to be directed by Justin Kurzel. Filming will begin in the U.K. in January, and I’m guessing those two can create some nice Shakespearian sparks.  And Kenneth Branagh, who’ll next direct “Cinderella” for the big screen, is making his New York stage debut (that was a long time coming, wasn’t it?) next summer in the title role of “Macbeth,” alongside Alex Kingston. Calling all Weird Sisters . . .
