Madonna banned from cinema chain — for texting

This blog doesn’t typically concern itself with movie-star gossip — really, if I had to worry about who was pregnant and who was dating whom and who’s gotten arrested and what on earth Lindsay Lohan is doing with her life, I’d never have time to drink Diet Coke — but I couldn’t quite resist this one, because it involves our friends at the Alamo Drafthouse. (Please come to Seattle! Please!) The story goes that Madonna attended the New York Film Festival premiere of “12 Years a Slave” last week, and was unable to refrain from texting constantly throughout the film, despite being asked to stop. When Alamo CEO Tim League heard the news, he responded with a tweet that banned the Material Girl (does anyone call her that anymore?) from his theater chain. League, asked by Entertainment Weekly if he was serious, responded, “Yeah, I’m serious, but I don’t think it really affects her life that much.” The tweet was was “more of a means to get the issue out there, that it is rude to text during movies.” Amen. And a happy Monday to you all.
