You’re invited to a live Golden Globes chat on Sunday

The Golden Globes, let it be said, is an utterly meaningless evening, even by the not-particularly-meaningful standards of awards shows. (Tina Fey, hosting this year’s show with Amy Poehler, explained in an interview why she would never host the Oscars: It is, she said, a “much more intimidating room . . .That night is career-making or –breaking for people.” A Golden Globe, on the other hand, doesn’t mean much of anything, so the room’s easier. Plus there’s champagne at the tables, so everyone’s drunk.)

Nonetheless, I’ve always found the Golden Globes to be a hoot: the speeches are livelier than the Oscars (thanks, I’m guessing, to that champagne), the fashion tends to be a little more playful, the hosts have a more reckless spirit. So, I and editor Lynn Jacobson  — the Amy and Tina, or Tina and Amy, of the Seattle Times, if you will — are readying our banter and will be live-chatting it up on Sunday, starting at 4:30. Do join us!  (No, we will not have champagne. But you can.)
