An appropriate movie clip for a sizzling weekend

I drove past the Seven Gables this morning and they have “WE HAVE AC” on their marquee, just under the name of the movie (“The Grand Seduction,” which I hear is pretty good). A good reminder, as we enter what’s supposed to be a weeklong stretch of 90-degree weather, that movie theaters have something that a lot of us, myself included, do not have at home: air conditioning. Which doesn’t make sitting through a terrible movie worth it, but a mediocre one might be just a little better in a pleasantly cool, dark room. See you at the movies? And yes, it’s too darn hot.

That’s Ann Miller, doing some sizzling tap in the 1953 movie “Kiss Me Kate.”
