A whole lot of ‘Jungle Book’

Did you know that there are two animated “Jungle Book” movies in the works? I didn’t, until today anyway, but here’s how you can tell the difference. The Disney version features the voices of Idris Elba (as Shere Khan), Scarlett Johansson (as Kaa), Bill Murray (Baloo), Christopher Walken (King Louie) and Lupita Nyong’o (Rakcha), and is due in theaters in fall 2015. Sounds pretty good, no? Wait until you hear about the other one: Benedict Cumberbatch — yes, Sherlock himself — will be voicing that sly villain Shere Khan in Warner Bros.’ “Jungle Book: Origins,” due in 2016. Andy Serkis will make his directing debut with the film. Based on this first bit of casting, he’s off to an awfully good start.
