Kyle MacLachlan confirms return to ‘Twin Peaks’

It’s been hinted at for months, but finally confirmed today: The new “Twin Peaks” series, announced several months ago, will indeed star Washington native Kyle MacLachlan, reprising his role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper. MacLachlan made a surprise appearance today at the Television Critics Association press tour, announcing the news. David Lynch and Mark Frost are developing the new season, to appear on Showtime next year.

MacLachlan, who’s been popping up on TV a lot lately (he’s had recurring roles on “The Good Wife,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Believe,” and “Portlandia”), will be heard in the upcoming Pixar movie “Inside Out.” He got a laugh from the TCA by leaving the stage with the comment, “May the forest be with you.”

For more details on the new “Twin Peaks,” revealed today at TCA, see Rob Owens’ article.
