With first retail pot licenses out, Bellingham store expects early Tuesday opening

The state of Washington issued its first retail marijuana licenses via email this morning, putting the pot industry’s gears in motion for an opening day of retail sales tomorrow.

Among those who received a license was Aaron Nelson, general manager of 2020 Solutions in Bellingham who says he received an email from the traceability system used by the state at about 1:20 a.m.

“We’re absolutely ┬áthrilled,” Nelson said. “We are ready to go, we’ve got product in the state’s quarantine system and set to be delivered before 8 a.m. (tomorrow).”

Nelson said 2020 Solutions plans to open at 8 a.m. tomorrow, the earliest time a retail marijuana store is allowed to be open under state rules.

“We’re set to have product ready to sell to customers,” he said.
