Ocean Greens to become Seattle’s third state-licensed pot shop

The legal pot market seems to be picking up steam. Ocean Greens owner Oltion Hyseni announced his store will open at 4:20 p.m. Thursday. His business will become Seattle’s third state-licensed marijuana store. He said he thinks Ocean Greens has acquired enough supply to stay open, but will “beta test for two weeks just to make sure” ahead of an Oct. 18 grand opening celebration.

Ocean Greens is on Aurora Avenue North between 97th and 98th streets. Although Hyseni called Thursday’s opening a soft launch, he plans to keep business hours between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. seven days a week.

Ocean Greens features a 1960s-era bar with a modern, contemporary aesthetic, Hyseni said. He will sell vintage lighters and ash trays as well as marijuana-infused edibles and vapes.

A real-estate agent who emigrated from Albania 14 years ago, Hyseni said he “never pictured in a million years I would own a marijuana recreation store in Seattle when I moved here.”

“I was raised under (an oppressive) regime,” he said. “I’m very happy to be part of Seattle history.”
