RAVE To the patient bank customers trying to use the drive-up ATM when my battery died after my transaction, leaving me blocking the ATM. Without exception, every person was sympathetic and offered to help. The experience left me with renewed faith in the neighborliness of Seattleites (and a new battery!).
RANT To the racist person who left a note using the N word on my car at Fred Meyer. You’re mistaken to think I parked in a handicapped spot; those are in the other aisle with freshly painted markers and new signs. The place I parked is now for anyone to use. You’re an ignorant jerk.
RAVE To the kind souls who responded to my recently published rant about a bicycle stolen from a homeless man. Foster Bikes, a nonprofit that repairs bikes to give to young people in foster care, will replace the man’s bike that was stolen from my carport. Thank you!
RANT To the local animal shelter for charging a $195 fee for a one-night stay of our lost pet!
RAVE To my fellow employees who gave me their hard-earned cash to help replace the GPS that was stolen from my truck while I made a pizza delivery. I experienced the best and worst of people during that 10-hour shift. Their friendship and generosity turned my emotions from anger to gratitude.
RANT To the parents who allowed their preschooler to put on his helmet and ride his scooter in church during the service. Please do your son and society a favor and teach him about appropriate behavior.
RANT AND RAVE Rant to the cab company that had me waiting at the store for an hour and a half after several calls to no avail. I’m handicapped so can’t walk home. Rave to Cassandra, who asked if I was waiting for someone, then offered to drive me home in her beautiful red Volvo. I should’ve given her a well-deserved hug.
RANT To mail thieves in our neighborhood; the police are looking out for you. At least they threw the mail in bushes so it was found and delivered.
RAVE To the many caring passers-by and two unidentified ladies (angels!) who picked up my neighbor’s beloved cat after it was hit by a car and rushed him to the cat clinic. Sadly, he didn’t survive but passed on surrounded by love and care.
RANT To high school football coaches who run up the score unmercifully, keeping their starting players in far too long. What does this teach about sportsmanship?
RAVE To the man who followed me into my parking area to tell me my taillights and plate light weren’t working. It’s good to know people look out for others.
