RAVE To the kind homeless woman I met while lost trying to find my way to a downtown hotel for a planning meeting for my husband’s funeral. I was late and anxious, but she took my arm and walked me right to the front door. I only had a few dollars with me; she said it was enough to keep her out of a shelter for the night. Wish I’d had more.
RANT To the paint truck with an unsecured load, including a big container that fell into the road, hit my front tire and exploded, leaving paint all over my car and tires. It will be expensive to fix and the road was a mess with paint too. Be responsible and secure whatever you’re carrying to prevent another disaster!
RAVE To the Seattle Police officer who literally stopped my authority-hating teenager halfway through a rant about cops when we noticed the police car stopped at an intersection. When we got closer we saw the officer helping a preschooler haul his bike up the stairs of an apartment building with his mom, her arms full with grocery bags. Thanks to the SPD for hiring officers who selflessly, and with great humility, exemplify service to their communities and make a big impact on us all.
RANT To the horrible guy who’d been so friendly to me at the casino, but after I asked him to save my slot-machine spot for me while I went to the restroom, he instead stole the $629 I had in it, according to casino cameras, cashing out and running out of the building one minute after I walked away. Rant to me for being so trusting. I’d told him I was there because I’d just learned my favorite cousin died and wanted to take my mind off that for a while. I hope somehow he gets what he deserves, while I try to restore my faith in human kindness.
RAVE For the many volunteers that made Evergreen Rotary Park in Bremerton into a fun and active place. My grandsons and their friends thoroughly enjoyed the play area that’s friendly for children with special needs, the beach access and picnic tables. What a super place!
RANT To the co-worker deliberately trying to undermine me in front of our supervisor. I’m the head of the department because I have more knowledge, experience and work hard every day. <span channel=”!”>You must not have much confidence in your abilities.
RAVE To all the drivers who pulled over to help catch a very scared dog running in traffic. Thanks to everyone who stopped to avoid hitting it and the ones who got out of their cars and saved the dog. You all restored my faith in humanity.
