Daily Rant&Rave: HOV lane cheaters

RAVETo the two young women who stopped their cars in the Northgate parking lot to pick up an old man who tripped and fell. My aches started later in the day, but I’m blessed by the memory of their assistance.
RANT To all the scofflaws who enter Interstate 405 using the clearly marked HOV lanes when they’re the only person in their vehicle. On my daily commute I wait my turn to enter the freeway via the single-occupancy-lane green light and every day five to10 cars with only the driver fly past me while I’m waiting there. The Washington DOT website has a form for citizens to report HOV violators, but it requires the violating vehicle’s license number, date, time, etc. I can’t catch the license numbers as they drive by at high speeds, and should I be focusing on doing that instead of driving safely and legally to get on the freeway? Washington State Patrol officers could have a heyday waiting on the ramp. Until then, the scofflaws will continue because there’s no consequence to stop them.
