Daily Rant&Rave: Hey coaches, student athletes aren’t sex objects

RAVE: To the couple who smiled and waved to us as they walked by the window of a restaurant where we’d just finished our meal. We were so surprised to discover that they had paid for our dinner. The two little children they were carrying have wonderful role models. Count on us to pass it forward.

RANT: To the coaches and parents who let the members of a high-school girls’ swim team wear shirts proclaiming that they are “too sexy for a sport that requires clothes.” Sports should enhance girls’ independence and strength, not encourage them to become sex objects in their teens.
