Rant and Rave: Thanks, Seahawks

RAVE To the Seattle Seahawks for a wonderful year of Super Bowl celebration. As I look around and see our colors and banners everywhere I know we’re loyal fans and even if it doesn’t happen again, we’re behind you. Thanks for the memories.
RANT AND RAVE Rant to the big headlines when some mega-billionaire gives half a percent of his income to a charity or cause. Rave to all the regular people who give 10 percent of their income to the needy on a regular basis.
RAVE AND RANT Rave to my great doctor and the great medical-team staff at Swedish Hospital. Rant to kidney stones.
RANT To the customer who had a tantrum because she and her husband had to wait to get their order taken on a busy afternoon. I’m sorry you had to wait. But even after I apologized several times, expedited your order and comped your meals, you were still rude and unkind. By the way, because of your behavior I was suspended from my job for three days.
RAVE To the thoughtful folks who visit elderly members of our community living in dementia care. When I can’t be there to visit with or hug my mom, it makes me happy to know you may be there asking about her day or squeezing her hand. And please know, when I’m there, I do the same for your cherished parents and loved ones.
RANT AND RAVE Rant to all of the backyard breeders who sell “purebred” puppies, with no papers of course, kittens and/or their unaltered parents online. You’re creating scores of traumatized animals who are abandoned, dumped in shelters and euthanized — shame on you. Get your pets spayed and neutered. Rave to the shelters and rescue groups who take in and rehabilitate unwanted pets.
RAVE AND RANT Rave to the super nice employees at many stores who make shopping a pleasant experience with a friendly hello and thank you, earning our loyalty. Rant to companies who’ve gotten so big that their employees barely/rarely acknowledge customers who are checking out.
RANT To the gas stations that gouge customers, selling a gallon of regular gas at $3.40 plus while the area average dips below $3 because they’re located in areas without convenient nearby competition. I understand they’re not forcing anybody to buy gas there, but I for one will never patronize their greedy stations.
RAVE To the wonderful airplane crew and passengers, including a doctor and nurse practitioner, who came to my aid during an onboard medical emergency. I can’t thank you enough for your kindness and patience during a truly scary experience. Bravo to your quick actions and efficiency to get me back on my feet, literally.
